The Mint Cleaner is a really interesting new innovation when it comes to cleaning your floors. It takes the concept of sweeping and mopping to a whole new level and does it for you while you spend your time doing other things.

The NorthStar Navigation System that comes with the Mint Cleaner is an indoor GPS that keeps track of the areas that your Mint Cleaner has cleaned and where it hasn’t cleaned yet. The NorthStar Cube projects a signal that the Mint Cleaner uses to determine its location. While the Mint is cleaning, it builds a map of the area as it goes, mapping out where the walls are, where obstacles like chairs and tables are, and programs this into the navigation system.
The Mint Cleaner then uses the NorthStar Cube (shown to the right) as a reference point. The Mint Cleaner has the ability to map and clean an area up to 800 square feet either in a large open space, or it can do this by discovering adjacent rooms.
In mop mode, the cleaning area for the Mint Cleaner is restricted in order to optimize the cleaning by how long the cloth remains wet and how long it actually is cleaning the room. Learn more about Mint’s Sweep and Mop modes »
Your mint cleaner starts off with cleaning open areas, moving back and forth across the floor in parallel lines. When the Mint comes across an obstacle, it decides exactly how to handle them – whether its cleaning around them and then continuing its path or turning around and saving the area ahead for later on. Periodically your mint cleaner will return to these spots and clean them before moving on to a new area.
Once your Mint Cleaner completes a sweep of the open areas, it follows up with a perimeter sweeping that goes all along the edges of furniture as well as walls to guarantee a complete clean of your rooms.
What happens at the end of the cycle?
When your new Mint Cleaner is finished cleaning your room for you, it returns to the spot you originally placed it and parks itself so you know exactly where to find it.
This means you won’t have to go searching for your Mint Cleaner when it’s done cleaning for you. It’s not one of those pesky sneaky robots that hides on you after it finishes its work.
